"The Kiss" by Rodin

I just had to add this picture of the amazing work of Rodin, when it was really almost a supporting character in the book "Kissing Adrien" by Siri Mitchell. Seeing it stirred Claire's emotions like nothing else did (well, besides Adrien himself!) and cemented the notion that she needed to experience that one amazing kiss for herself.

I can feel your pain Claire...

Adrien? Where art thou? ha ha ha!!!

Weird!! Yesterday my son told me he's reading Dante's "Inferno" and I mentioned the Rodin sculpture in Philly called "The Gates of Hell" that newlyweds are always getting their picture taken in front of (which sparked a whole different conversation) and I told him I thought it was based on "The Inferno". So I had to look it up on-line and sure enough - I was right. And then we started looking at the other Philadelphia Rodin sculptures (we have a Rodin museum here) and I decided that "The Kiss" was my favorite.

Okay. So maybe it wasn't that weird after all. :o)

And you thoroughly confused me with who's going to marry what day and in-laws and polygamy and all that stuff. LOL

I think in the book, the fact that "The Kiss" was part of that series really made the character's moral compass teetered a bit as to whether to love it or shun it... which made me that more interested in seeing it for myself!

and....

yeah, I totally confused myself with my comment on your blog as well... it's the Tuesday after springing forward... I'm a little groggy! (o:
